My days in Orlando(Winter Park) - II

[Yue Hong]
Firstly, I feel really so happy to see many uncles posting.. It's always so happy to see things happening in Mantin and how's everybody there.. hehe.. I am now driving around in Winter Park of Orlando.. I have been looking around for school, do groceries, and cook for myself. The time difference here is 12 hrs, it is slower than Msia, let say Msia is 10.15am, here is 10.15pm of the day before. And the temperature here is vary from 22-34 degree celcius, today is 34 at day time while i was in the swimming pool, hot and sunny..
I have just got a rice cooker and Chinese knife from my host family upon my requested to them.. haha… can’t survive without a “Choy Dao” (Chinese knife) la.. :p The allow au pair to get kitchen utensils and everything needed for my apartment.

Over here, all types of Chinese or any asian food is very easy to get. There are many big asian/oriental market nearby but also quite expensive in price. I got myself Tou Fu, oyster sauce, Vietnam kuey tiao and Cabbage at the store.

Tomorrow is “Cinco de Mayo” day here.. is a Mexican celebration. Cinco means five/fifth and Mayo means May I think.. It’s fifth of May.
Found from the web:
“Introduction: The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some recognition in other parts of the Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population.”

This Saturday my host family will be associating “Au Pair in America” to host a brunch gathering for all the Au Pair(like me!) and host mom in my cluster. All au pairs have to bring a dish from their home country.. so far I have met au pairs from Germany, South Africa, Thailand, Brazil, Peru and England. We have small gathering here and went for a movie with some of them. It should be interesting to see what they gonna bring for the brunch on Sat. I’m gonna cook spicy honey chicken as I have the sauce that I brought from Msia. Hehe.. play cheat. :p

On Sunday, I have received an email from a Uni professor here which is a Malaysian and be invited to go for a Malaysian gathering for Malaysian lives nearby. I have called up the organizer to confirm the place, and he said they are few ppl from Seremban that I will be going to meet this Sunday. Most of the Malaysian here are couples and have settled down over here. Am feeling quite excited to meet them up, already long time din see any Malaysian.

On next week, I am following my host family to Bahamas for 3 days.. I have seen some pictures from the website, they are really nice and interesting, the hotel website is
www.atlantis.com.

It's a long blog today... enjoy and sorry for ur eyes guys... :D
